Since he arrived in Chicagoland in 1987, Larry Harris has been involved in music teaching and performance. The Larry Harris piano studio is located in Oswego, Illinois and offers lessons that are personally catered to each student, whether child or adult.

Biography
Larry Harris was born in Portland IN and grew up on a farm there. He received a BA in music from the University of Kentucky and an MM in Jazz Piano Performance from DePaul University in Chicago. Since arriving in Chicago in 1987, his career has been extremely varied:
Jazz Performance- Appearances in every important jazz venue including the Jazz Showcase, the Green Mill and Andy’s. He also appeared on the main stage of the Chicago Jazz Festival with singer Jackie Allen.
Commercial Performance- Hundreds of appearances with bands providing music for weddings and corporate events. Backed visiting artists at the Chicago Theatre and Holiday Star Theatre including Bob Newhart, Bob Hope, Dakota Staton, the Smothers Brothers and Aretha Franklin.
Recording- Appeared on dozens of recordings both as performer and arranger, the most recent being “Mando-Boppin’” with jazz mandolin virtuoso Don Stiernberg.
Liturgical Musician- Director of Music at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Aurora, IL from 1991 until his retirement in 2018, directing adult and children’s choirs and providing music for thousands of services including weddings and funerals. Each Christmas for Midnight Mass he assembled an orchestra of more than eighty musicians, conducting and providing the arrangements.
